Background:
Frank is a certified Industrial Hygienist who holds a doctorate
degree in chemistry. He received his bachelor's degree from
Columbia College in 1964 where he graduated magna cum laude.
Later, he received both a masters degree and Ph.D. in chemistry
from Harvard.
Professional
Experience:
Frank has been in occupational health and safety for over
27 years. Most of those years have been spent as the director
of the Health and Safety Department of the International Union,
UAW. His leadership in developing innovative joint research
projects with employers has led to extensive improvements
in workplaces all over the united states.
Career
Highlights:
Frank's greatest accomplishment has been his ability to influence
public policy on behalf of working people everywhere. He is
regarded as one of the most influential health and safety
practitioners in the organized labor movement today. His influence
is felt directly in innovative collective bargaining strategies
in the auto, aerospace, parts suppliers, office and professional
and the public sectors. His early and persistent concern with
health risks of metalworking fluids in the auto and related
industries, have put this issue on OSHA's front burner. As
a result of his work, a once overlooked issue which seriously
affected the respiratory health of tens of thousands of workers,
is now routinely controlled.
